NOV. 6-12, 2017
This week, we honor the men and women who have served to protect our country. With bravery and sacrifice, our veterans answered the call of service. Now we have the opportunity to serve them. When veterans return from duty, the transition back to civilian life is often a challenge. It can be difficult to translate military experience to the civilian workforce, and physical and mental trauma experienced during their service can impact their daily lives. In 2016, nearly 40,000 veterans were homeless and 453,000 faced unemployment.
Thankfully, there are charities that provide veterans and their families with services ranging from housing and medical care to counseling and professional development. Here's how you can make an impact:
- $50 provides 150 meals to homeless veterans through a local shelter.
- $150 provides one group therapy session for veterans.
- $500 provides pre-occupational online training for veterans entering the civilian workforce.
If you are passionate about supporting our veterans, take a moment to make a pledge through the CBACFC to charities working on this critical issue.
Don’t just learn about it, post about it! Are you a veteran who received support from a family member, friend, or an organization? Share your experiences and help others who may be facing similar situations. If you have a veteran in your life, be sure to thank them with #ShowSomeLoveCFC.
